Aside from the fact that Wreck-It Ralph was one of the best animated feature length films from 2012 (it was nominated for the Best Animated Film Academy Award), the theatrical release also had a nice treat playing before the video game centric movie. Tangled and Ratatouille animator John Kahrs made his directorial debut with the hybrid hand-drawn and computer animated short Paperman, which has been nominated for both an Oscar and an Annie Award. Now Disney has made the entire charming short available to watch online, and you should definitely take six-minutes to watch it and try not to smile. Watch the short below!
Here's John Kahrs full animated short Paperman, initially from Disney Animation (or THR):
Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what fate has in store for him. John Kahrs (animator on Tangled and Ratatouille) directed Paperman, a nominee for Best Animated Short at the Oscars (it won!).

Wow, this is amazing! I would love to see a full length movie in this animation style (looks like a modern 101 dalmatians animation style)!

This is Pixar level work and storytelling without Pixar (who I'm beginning to strongly call into question lately). Phenomenal short.

A modern day 'Close Encounter' with a magical twist. Very Manga in nature, with the classic Disney-style eye format for the female character.
