The Wolverine

Just yesterday, the first bit of footage from tomorrow's first trailer for The Wolverine was revealed by director James Mangold on the 6-second video service called Vine. But now the bigger tease is here with a 20-second sneak preview of the full trailer coming tomorrow, which will be nearly two minutes long. Keen eyes noticed interesting bits in the Vine video, including an appearance from Famke Janssen that may or may not just be footage from X-Men: The Last Stand. In addition, two rather boring motion posters have been revealed. One is quite familiar, while the other is all new and kind of cool to see, but still lackluster.

Here are the two newest motion posters from The Wolverine, found via Facebook and SuperHeroHype:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc by Chris Claremont & Frank Miller, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Knight and Day) is directing The Wolverine from a script by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback who are adapting the classic 1982 story arc in the Wolverine comics, which takes our favorite mutant all the way to Japan. The cast includes Will Yun Lee as the Silver Samurai, Svetlana Khodchenkova as Viper, Brian Tee, Hiroyuki Sanada and Rila Fukushima. 20th Century Fox is releasing The Wolverine in theaters starting July 26th this summer. Stay tuned for the trailer next.

wtf did you want it to show him slashing 30 ninjas in a motion poster get over yourself

hg on Mar 26, 2013

Well, yes, isn't that what the movie is about? Or will be featuring? Lots of ninjas going after Logan? Why is it so bad that we want the poster show that? Do you know how awesome it would be to have a motion poster with Wolvie slashing 30 ninjas?! Now THAT would've been a badass sight to see!

Exactly Alex.

What is it with all you hate mongers on this website recently?

What if actually people just aren't happy with the quality of the content coming out of Hollywood? This stuff just looks as bad as the crap Asylum kicks out .. i.e.

LOLz basing your judgement on a 6 and 20 sec teasers. *roll eyes*

I'm not talking about all the negativity towards the films strangely enough. I'm more referring to all these folk coming on and giving Alex and Ethan a hard time, for what seems to be no reason at all, other than they have different opinions than them.

Guy who comments on things on Mar 26, 2013

Yeah I agree. Posters aren't that bad but for some reason this film seems to have kicked up a lot of negativity already.

Simon Watkins on Mar 26, 2013

Posters are bad, and did you see that last Wolverine movie?

The second one is actually miles above the two released yesterday.

Only in the way a dung beetle is miles above the parasites in the shit it eats.

YepItIsLikeThat on Mar 26, 2013

FAIL!!! We want a trailer not some motion poster! This movie is already getting a thumbs down from me with it's feeble marketing. I'm already expecting this to be another trashy wolverine movie just like origins storyline but I am anticipating (hopefully) for an Apocalypse cameo leading into the next X-Men movie.

who gives a fuck.

ben on Mar 26, 2013

This is a waste of resources. doing a motion poster only to show crap floating around is not necessary. I think in general we need better motion posters for movies

TOONFED on Mar 26, 2013

I think as long as the studio has put something out to advertise, I could care less what it is! I think many of us bored enthusiasts should take a vacation and quit the griping!

Why the heck does he need a Katana? I thought that would be the obvious question. I mean, his Adamantium claws are definitely sharper and more easily concealed. Not to mention with more power and control since they are fused into his forearm. He'd slice an enemy blade clean in half like it was made of plastic.

Brendon on Mar 26, 2013

its not so much that he needs it but what the sword represented during his training with the other samurais.

Josef Saltpeppaketchup Woods on Mar 26, 2013

I think it was said somewhere in this movie he would be taken out of his element losing his connection with the X-Men and possibly having the metal extracted out of him so I can see why he is running around with a sword at hand because he has to train in the ways of the Samurai to learn how to protect himself in other methods. That's just my assumption from what I've heard by the director in which he wants to take the character.

BinaryChaos on Mar 26, 2013

I don't get it. Am I watching something?

Brian Ricci Movie Review on Mar 26, 2013

Though these motion posters of Wolverine may be lackluster, they're still a pretty cool upgrade to the typical 2D posters. Wouldn't mind seeing more motion posters in the future for a whole range of movies.

JBrotsis on Mar 26, 2013

Since it's Japan, the poster should be all neon colors, not some poor Dark Knight rip-off.

Boring indeed!
