"I'm in a glass case of emotion!" Bad news, sports fans. While Ron Burgundy was slated to join ESPN's SportsCenter today as guest host (we teased his interview with Peyton Manning yesterday), the appearance featuring Will Ferrell along with David Koechner as Champ Kind (WHAMMY!) has been canceled. ESPN announced the bad news (via THR) because of a news conference regarding sexual assault allegations against quarterback Jameis Winston set for today, and that will take prominence as real sports news. But to stop your tears, we have Steve Carell's incredible audition video as weatherman Brick Tamland when Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was still just developing. Watch below!
Steve Carell's Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy audition from Paramount (via Movies.com):
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is written and directed by Adam McKay, the man behind the original 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and comedies like Step Brothers. With the 70's behind him, San Diego's top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk. Also back are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) - All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York's first 24-hour news channel by storm. Paramount Pictures brings the sequel to theaters this winter on December 20th, 2013.
