Yep, we're the ones posting an entire news story about a logo for a movie. But this is for a movie we might just call our most anticipated movie in the works at the moment. So, why not. Plus it looks pretty damn cool. With the first trailer for Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi movie Interstellar set to debut in front of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug this weekend, we're finally going to get a glimpse what Nolan has been hiding this whole time. Until then, our very first tease comes in the form of this logo, simply a black & white design with a bit of flare coming off of some dark round object. That is likely the wormhole mentioned in the current synopsis going around, but I'm sure more will be revealed in the trailer this weekend. View below.
This artwork was revealed for the launch of the official website, Twitter and Facebook page for Interstellar.
A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. Interstellar is directed by British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, of the films Doodlebug, Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. The screenplay is by Christopher Nolan & Jonathan Nolan, based on scientific theories by Caltech astrophysicist Kip Thorne. Nolan just began filming earlier this year. Paramount will release Interstellar in theaters everywhere November 7th, 2014 next fall.

Unfortunately, Matt Damon is in this movie. Why, Nolan, why??

Just relax and enjoy the movie, Christ... Why does everything have to have someone bitching about it nowadays? Nobody is forcing you to see this movie. And Matt Damon isn't even in this movie.

Matt is "uncredited" but we have far worse actors to fear...................like (drum roll) Matthew McCanaughay

Mathew McCanaughay a bis ad actor? I guess you haven't seen the Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Joe, Mud, or Dallas Buyers Club. He's about 80% likely to get an oscar nomination this year, and 50/50 of winning the oscar.

Maybe we'll get an "Indigestion" next? "All of Chicago have belly aches in "Indigestion": Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael Caine star in a movie about the turmoils of constipation, caused by the evil "Squeezy Johnson" (Cillian Murphy) and his food poisoning scheme. But is there more to it? Maybe the Constipation is only the beginning..." rated pg13

the most anticipated movie of 2014 because it's a original story...

Really? I read that they're exploring because in the future we've ruined Earth, which sounds a bit too familiar a theme compared to exploring for exploration's sake. I hope it doesn't influence that feeling too much.

I think Avi meant original story in that it's not going to be a remake or an adaptation of a book.

In which case he's right and I agree that's great, that's why I like Nolan. I'm still let down though.

Christopher Nolan has become one of the most highly respected and successful directors in Hollywood after his success with The Dark Knight trilogy Inception and the psychological mystery thrillers Memento Insomnia Following and The Prestige he has demonstrated a unique talent for creating involving films containing concepts based on abstract breaks with conventional behavior and idealism. Dubbed meta-noir by critics at a loss for words to describe its psychologically demanding, high-concept narratives yet low-key journey into the mind of a man seeking revenge but lacking the ability to create new memories, Memento became the basis of lively discussion and debate among critics and audiences hungering for something thoughtful among a flurry of countless computer-generated pseudo-thrills and all-too-familiar gross-out comedies. Christopher Nolan's a trailblazer in utilization of themes related to the darker side of the human psyche, with a particular affinity for existential questions regarding identity, perception and memory, he has been described as "one of the most innovative storytellers and image makers at work in movies today.

I dont like the font! Come on... What happened there?! ;P It is different alright, but nontheless we finaly get some visuals to complement the already emotionaly hiped expectations for the project. I liked the previous fonts, they conveyed a moder, yet elegant style, when this just looks like it will be a black and white vintage movie. I expected something a bit more modern given it is a scifi.

I'm sorry that Nolan wasn't conventional or formulaic enough for you. Maybe you should stick to watching Michael Bay movies or something that caters to people with below average IQs. Now run along and let the grown ups talk.

I swear these kids will find anything to bitch about. "Hurr durr he used black and white, what is this the 40s Nolan??"
axalon on Dec 12, 2013

I was just saying it all looks a bit unconventional for a scifi, but that is the greatness of a director such as Nolan. When you think something is going to happen, he will hit you from a different perspective. Dude, chill the post is about the logo, so I commented on it. Anyways, cant wait for the trailer, can't wait a year for it to come out!

Oh come the fuck on, man, it's just a font we're talking about here. So he isn't wild about it for whatever reason, that doesn't mean your clichéd go-watch-Michael-Bay comment has to apply to him. I like the font because I think it actually reinforces an elegant mood, and is a nice departure from the minimal Helvetica (or similar) font he's been using before.

One of my life's greatest achievements was avoiding all trailers, TV spots and spoilers for The Avengers for over a year (as I was too ill to see it at the cinema when it was on). Day before the DVD release...saw a major spoiler on Facebook.
