Olly Moss Oscars Poster

85 Oscars. 85 Years. 85 Best Picture Winners. The Academy (via Awards Daily), as part of the Gallery1988 artwork collaboration, has unveiled the official poster for the 85th Academy Awards this year. The actual official design, which features a new representation of the iconic statuette, shows the "light Oscar" which is based on Gjon Mili's 1949 Life magazine photographs of Pablo Picasso. It also includes the title of all of the nominated films this year. But besides that, they got Olly Moss to create a special 85th Anniversary poster, featuring an iconic character statuette for each and every Best Picture winner over the last 85 years. It's brilliant. This is why I love that the Academy is working with Gallery1988 to create stunning art like this.

Straight from the Oscars is the official 85th Academy Awards (telecast) poster, with the "light Oscar" design:

Share in the Academy's history with a one-of-a-kind poster designed by artist Olly Moss (@ollymoss / official website / tumblr). The special poster features 85 Oscar statuettes, each one distinctly inspired by past Best Picture winners, from 1927 through 2012. For more information or to order your own prints of either of these, visit It's only $25 for the first one and $35 for the second one, but I'm not exactly sure of the size they're printing them at. Whatever the case, it's definitely worth picking up a copy.

I really love this print, but I'm not surprised considering it comes from Olly Moss and they worked with Gallery1988. To see a full-size closeup, visit Moss' blog post. To see an individual gallery of each statuette and design one-by-one, visit this gallery. Just last week, The Academy unveiled a series of 9 art prints for each of the Best Picture nominees, and all of them were fantastic. This one from Olly Moss can definitely be added to the line-up, another excellent design that I'm excited to get my own copy of. Bravo!

You seem like a really fun guy to have dinner with.

BLEGH. Now that I tooka closer look at it, it's even worse. The concept is far too forced and a lot of them look too hammy and ridiculous. 1989'S "Driving Miss Daisy" is absolutely MORONIC. 1950's "All About Eve" is hysterically stupid and sets a new bar for the meaning of 'contrived'. Yuck. Absolutely terrible.
