Peter Dinklage

But who exactly will he be playing? We're excited to confirm that Bryan Singer has cast "Game of Thrones" Golden Globe-winning actor Peter Dinklage in a role in his upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past movie. Singer is going all out pulling back as many of the original cast members as he can, building up an epic movie that involves time travel and much more. He took to twitter (@BryanSinger) to confirm that Dinklage is on-board and that he's "very very excited" to work with him. As we covered yesterday, shooting starts in April, and Singer is finishing up casting and pre-production decisions over these next few months.

Bryan Singer's tweet only revealed that Dinklage has been cast, so what character might he be playing in X-Men: Days of Future Past? A couple of sites have taken a crack at figuring out what X-Men he'll play. For example, The Playlist considers: "Could he be Puck, featured in the Alpha Flight storyline? Or maybe Singer is rebooting Toad?" Obviously Puck seems to be the most popular pick so far, but there's an entire movie with any number of roles that he could fit. He's actually a very versatile actor, and I'm curious to see how he fits in. We'll let you know as soon as anyone figures out who he is, in the meantime, let the discussion begin!

Update: Well, this may stir up the pot a bit. The report on Variety by Justin Kroll about Dinklage's casting adds that he's going to play the villain in Singer's Days of Future Past. Say what? Here's all they say: "In it is unknown at this time what character Dinklage would be playing but sources have told Variety it would be the main antagonist." So that definitely rules out Puck, but then again, anything could happen. This is an interesting development and should keep everyone guessing until they reveal who he is going to be playing.

MODOK isn't owned by Fox. AIM and all it's characters are back at Marvel/Disney.

This is great news. He can play any role he wants and nail it. One of the best actors out there right now.

I just hope Singer doesn't try to overcomplicate things, i dunno about you guys but I remember Superman Returns an how i was dissappointed. Cast was spot on but the action an story was off. But yeah love the hair man. I only saw bits an pieces of game of thrones an i remember this guy bein a badass

Going to take a shot out of left field and suggest maybe he's playing Masque? Here's a little quote from Wikipedia for those who don't know him. "Little is known about Masque's life, except that he was born with severe facial deformities, which led to him living the life as an outcast. This was furthered when Masque discovered that he was a mutant born with the ability to alter people's faces and bodies, reshaping them to whatever he wants. Unfortunately for Masque, he found this blessing did not extend to his own flesh: Masque's own body was immune to his powers and could not be altered. This cruel irony embittered Masque against the world and those whose beauty Masque envied and loathed." I think Mr. Dinklage could bring a real level of severity and almost sympathy to a character like that. But who knows.
