Robert Pattinson / Dane DeHaan

This past May, we learned that music video director turned filmmaker Anton Corbijn (The American) was attached to helm Life, a film written by Luke Davies (Candy) which chronicles the interesting relationship that formed between photographer Dennis Stock when he met then-undiscovered star James Dean at a party and saw something special in him. Now two handsome young stars have been picked to take the two leads as ScreenDaily has news out of Toronto that Robert Pattinson will play Stock and Chronicle and Kill Your Darlings star Dane DeHaan will play the iconic, short-lived big screen star James Dean. Read on!

Stock is the focus of the story as he feels guilty as an estranged parent to his son. But after meeting Dean in 1955 before the premiere of East of Eden, Stock slowly comes out of his funk after spending time with the kid in Los Angeles, New York, and Indiana, having been commissioned by Life Magazine to photograph the future star. Those photos would eventually gain a lot more attention and turn Stock into a big name in the photography world. Their relationship at the center of this story sounds like it could be something akin to My Week with Marilyn, and with Pattinson and DeHaan bringing these characters to life, it sounds like the film should get young and old audiences interested. Sound good?

It'll be just like Michelle Williams man, she didn't look like Marilyn but she was FLAWLESS in the role (and even got an oscar nom) that everyone forgot about this detail lol

I love Michelle but I hated her performance as Marilyn. It was all kinds of wrong.

I've just had a look at the James Dean book by Sanford Roth and he Dean looks quite different from shoot to shoot. I reckon Dane DeHaan could pull it off.

Dean is a one off you cannot capture this ...there's so many copycats but they don't come close!! Deans face is so changeable he never looks the same ...Pattison is supposed to look like Dean he's not even close. Carey Elwis came closest in Days of Thunder I don't think that was deliberate.

DeHaan is playing Dean, not Pattinson.

yeah Pattinson should play Dean. It will be a daring move!

The cast is all wrong. Dehaan doesnt have the extraordinary charm to pull dean off. Dean is more known for his looks and rebel nature. Pattinson would have been a daring and interesting choice. This movie could have been buzzworthy if the actors were swapped.

Pattinson looks nothing like Dean...franco came closest but still what's the point...? Look at the movies and photos rejoice in the real thing !!!

All you'll get is an actor leaning up against stuff mumbling stuff and then exploding into angst ..Richard Gere did this in most of his films look at Martin sheen in Badlands and on it goes ...but when you watch Giant then there's no comparison...
