Rumor: Yoda May Get Lucasfilm's First Standalone 'Star Wars' Movie

Rebooting this franchise, they truly are! While we know for certain that J.J. Abrams is directing a new Star Wars movie that will indeed be Episode VII continuing that saga and storyline, it sounds like Lucasfilm has much bigger plans for this franchise/universe than anyone really knows. Harry of Ain't It Cool News has just posted an unsourced rumor about the potential stand-alone solo movies we've also heard about. At one point, Zack Snyder was supposedly in the mix, but Harry is saying that more than one stand-alone movie is in the works. And apparently the first might be about Yoda, the badass lil' green 800-year-old Jedi Master.
The statements in AICN's post are extremely vague and seem highly suspicious, but nonetheless they are statements worth discussing. Harry writes: "The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate…" He later adds that, "Knowing that Lucasfilm is doing a series of stand alone character features… I wonder if Joe Johnston has pitched Kennedy his stand alone BOBA FETT film he was talking about after the release of Captain America." Good question. Finally: "Oh - and I've also heard tale of a JABBA story that Lucas has floated to some of his buddies. But word is YODA is first." Make what you will of all that cinematic babble.
A Yoda movie first, before maybe Boba Fett, Jabba and the Jedi Masters get their own standalone movies? Is this really happening? Is this my Star Wars dream come true? I honestly thought I'd never see the day when I'd be writing about actually one day maybe seeing a Yoda standalone Star Wars movie, yet here we are. The possibilities! He lived for 900 years, he has so many stories to tell. It could be a historic epic about the early days of the Force, or it could even be a Dagobah spin-off, since he had so much time to kill while there. For now it's all just a rumor, yet another in a long line of incredibly exciting Star Wars rumors. So?

Yoda is overrated. Make a Force Unleashed movie with Sam Witwer as Starkiller hunting Jedi after Order 66 (that would be a great movie)

You, sir, hit it right on the dot! A Force Unleashed adaptation with Sam Witwer would be AMAZING! It was an awesome game! Notoriously short game, but awesome nonetheless!

We need a film where the Jedi defeat the Sith and the Mandalorians a thousand generations before A New Hope! This or nothing else!!!

Not a good idea, is this. Great lead character for a whole movie, I would not make.

Can't help wondering if this is somebody getting confused with the upcoming series Lego Star Wars shorts, The Yoda Chronicles. Lucasfilm have always been against exploring Yoda's backstory too much, and I'd be surprised if this is gone completely out the window.

A Forrest-Gump-esque 'journey through important historical events' type of film focusing on Yoda could be great. I sure as hell want a stand-alone Boba Fett film. I'd also LOVE to see a movie between Episode 3-4 where Vader hunts down Jedi in hiding...pretty much a film where Vader gets the be the bad-ass villain we all know and love from the original trilogy.

Vader doesn't hunt Jedi; He sends Starkiller to hunt for the missing Jedi while planning to kill Palpatine...

The scenario of Force Unleashed is exactly that: the scenario of a video game. It was always understood in the movie universe that Vader hunted down Jedi Knights.

I want a political thriller focusing on the exploits of the senator Jar Jar Binks

Lucas has said this before around the time of the release of ROTS...that if there were to be another Star Wars movie, he liked the idea of a Yoda origin story, that explored dealing with the Sith before the "rule of two" has so much potential...

Milking the franchise, milking the franchise real good! As long as the movies are good I really can't say anything I love Star Wars ,it's all cool!

It could also be a cash in for Disney to sell merchandise to little kids who think Yodas cute. It would have to be hardcore for me. No of this cutesy stuff anymore.

If the movies are even half as entertaining as the Star Wars nerds and fanboys who slam anythng that's not the orginal versions of the orginal trilogy, then this will be fantastic. Laugh it up LOSERS!!!

Seems George Lucas was only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to milking this product. With Disney in charge, maybe we'll get another Ewok movie out of this deal.

I really hope it's not Yoda because that would mean it would be mostly CGI like Episodes I-III
