Rumors of 'Planet Hulk' Movie in Marvel's Phase Three Get Smashed
First of all, let's just all agree that any information about this story should be considered hearsay. Having said that, we're pretty disappointed with this recent rumor control update. Earlier this month, Latino Review had a big scoop about the plans for The Incredible Hulk in the wake of The Avengers 2. After all, Phase Two is already planned, but talk of another standalone Hulk movie would fit perfectly in Phase Three. The rumor was that at the conclusion of The Avengers 2, the superhero ensemble would send Hulk to space, thinking him too dangerous to keep around, and that would lead into Planet Hulk. More below!
What made this all the more enticing is what would follow the standalone Hulk story. Planet Hulk (available to watch in animated form on Netflix Instant) finds the green machine on a distant planet called Sakaar where he ends up being sold into slavery, but he soon joins forces with his fellow slaves to fight for his freedom and a chance for revenge. This would serve as a set up for The Avengers 3 where Hulk would return to Earth, pissed off, and bring his alien friends with him to teach The Avengers a lesson. However, it sounds like this story isn't in the works at Marvel, or some good misinformation is being tossed around.
AICN has word from an inside source of their own that this Planet Hulk story idea is absolutely false. Their reasoning is that the response to Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner was so positive that they wouldn't just want to keep him in a motion capture suit as Hulk for an entire film. And since Planet Hulk deals with the character almost exclusively as the giant green monster, that leaves human Mark Ruffalo out in the wind. As of now, giving Ruffalo something to do as Banner and the Hulk is a priority for a standalone Hulk film, but it's not clear what that story will be. It makes sense to not hide Ruffalo, but the Planet Hulk idea and the tie-in to The Avengers sounds really fun. Hopefully, Marvel just has something better in the works.
Planet Hulk might be Hulk's only chance at making a good stand alone film. They already tried Hulk on Earth twice and it was a drag both times. Ed Norton couldn't make it awesome so why could Mark Ruffalo hold up his own Hulk film?

Tch. Well, hopefully Avengers 3 is a good ways away. I want my Civil War.

Latino Review is much MUCH more reliable and has a far better track record than AICN. So I will continue to believe this rumor.

Who cares about Ruffalo , give the people what they want! After planet Hulk they can use the guy more, unbelievable.

Here it is what i think they could do for a new movie of HULK . Cast spehen lang as Colonel Ross, bring the red hulk and introduce Rick JOnes, and Jennifer Walters as normal people. put two monster battles in the movie. One when Red Hulk wins. And the final battle when Hulk (ruffalo) get the victory. and dont's call it HULK 2. call it: HULKS

Planet Hulk would have the same amount of CG as Avatar. Good luck! No doubt, Planet Hulk was good, World War Hulk would be insane to see in theaters.

Obviously a 'Planet Hulk' adaptation could be 'adjusted' a bit to include more of Bruce Banner. Him dealing with Ross and the military for a whole film has been done twice now. I loved what Ruffalo did with the character...but it's not impossible to adapt Planet Hulk in a way that would leave him out entirely.

I think that planet hulk is an awful idea. I never liked the story to it and they all loved the hulk. Besides, Bruce learned how to control the hulk so there would be no reason to send him there. I don't like the world war hulk idea because I like him and the Avengers and I don't like the civil-war idea because too many people die in it and Tony is an Ass hole in it. If they were to do that they would kill off Cap and Hawkeye and make every one hate Iron Man. I don't think they should do anything to do with that sort of theme. I like the idea of Red hulk but maybe they could also throw in she hulk and more suit the title he came up with called hulks. They also need to get Spiderman, Antman, Wasp, Wolverine, And Black Panther as Avengers before they do anything special.
