After starring in the quiet, spy thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Colin Firth is heading into big action with Secret Service, an adaptation of Mark Millar's graphic novel of the same name with Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) at the helm. A young newcomer named Taron Egerton has taken the second lead role in the story of a veteran secret service agent training his punk nephew for the same job in the midst of celebrity kidnappings, the murder of an entire town and some sort of government secret involving Mount Everest. Now Variety reports Samuel L. Jackson has joined the cast as the main antagonist in the film.

With Jackson taking the bad guy role, now Vaughn just has to find his female lead. Harry Potter franchise star Emma Watson might be in the running along with Dark Shadows actress Bella Heathcote, but they're not the only options. Having Firth in the lead is already a sweet enough deal, and it's a rather bold decision considering Vaughn had asked big names like Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio to take the role (the latter would have been pretty exciting), and Firth doesn't have that kind of profile just yet. Now we just have to wait and see if Jackson is going to say "motherfucker" in this movie.

Vaughn didn't want DiCaprio or CRuise for the role that Colin Firth is playing. They were wanted for the villain. The part Jackson allegedly is now signed for. Colin Firth was always going to play the role he is signed up to play.
