Just yesterday we learned that Megan Ellison's company Annapurna Pictures and David Ellison's Skydance Productions were in talks with Paramount Pictures for a deal to the distribution rights to Terminator 5, the gestating sequel in the iconic sci-fi franchise. At the time, we had also already known that Arnold Schwarzenegger was returning, but we weren't necessarily sure in what capacity. Now the actor has again confirmed his involvement, but with the added detail that he will definitely be playing The Terminator again, despite speculation he might be taking a human role. Plus, he also says when production may begin.
Speaking with TheArnoldFans.com (via ComingSoon), the actor says, "In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January." That must mean the script from Avatar and Shutter Island writer Laeta Kalogridis and Drive Angry writer and director Patrick Lussier is complete if Schwarzenegger already knows when production will begin. We're curious to see what kind of story drives the sequel if Schwarzenegger is back with a lead role in the film, or at least a pivotal role as the cyborg assassin. If production really is slated to begin in January 2014, then we'll likely hear more solid developments soon, like who will be in the director's chair. Stay tuned.

T2 was also AMAZING, but Predator by far is his best role.

The machines / resistance must be running low on viable genetic material... cause he's gettin' up there. Love his (acting) work, and can't wait to see this, but I do question the longevity of the 800 series.

I hope they do not do goofy CG shit to make him look younger

It might be cool if Skynet abandoned the 800 model in a way, after its failures, and the 800s have aged since they are "living tissue over metal endoskeleton." That way he's supposed to be old.

I would rather that than goofy cg that never looks right.

Thanks for a 5th Terminator. Because the last 2 left me wondering what happens in the future. T2 is Arnolds best film ever. Just let it be. Cameron left it. Why can't we?

Make it look like the future scenes from T1, T2 and T3, or don't bother.

Can they also have Batista as the upgraded version?

Most important thing is that who is going to direct that? last 2 directors were the worst and lame.

I look forward to this. However, although I love Arnie, he's too old to be a damn Terminator. I seriously doubt Skynet would roll some flabby 60-somethings off the assembly line.
