Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg & Jonah Hill Plan 'Sausage Party' at Sony
Following their successful directorial debut This is The End, writing partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are getting back together yet again, this time with an animated film. In fact, the project is the gestating R-rated comedy Sausage Party that the duo discussed back in January of 2011. Now Variety reports Sony and Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures have partnered on the new film which Rogen and Goldberg will produce along with director Conrad Vernon (who directed Rogen in Monsters vs. Aliens) and collaborator Jonah Hill executive producing with James Weaver, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.
For those who don't remember, the story follows one sausage’s quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, the hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the big 4th of July barbecue sale. Rogen and Golberg wrote the script with Hunter and Shaffir. Sony's reteaming with Goldberg and Rogen comes after they brought This is The End back to theaters to land $100 million at the box office. Sony president Doug Belgrad says, "This project has all the irreverent, insightful and risqué R-rated humor we have come to expect from them.” There definitely aren't enough animated films for adults, so this should be fun.
