Shailene Woodley Out & Sarah Gadon In for 'Amazing Spider-Man 3'?

Sarah Gadon

Yesterday, shortly after it was revealed that Shailene Woodley was going to be cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, there was buzz that the actress was going to be replaced by the time her character Mary Jane Watson appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. More specifically, a rumor started going around that Cosmopolis actress Sarah Gadon was taking the role. It seemed to early for that kind of news to surface so suddenly, but ET Canada (via JoBlo) spoke to Gadon briefly and she confirmed that she does have a role in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. However, she did not specify which character she will play.

The timing of this news does seem to convenient for it not to be true. The only wrinkle seems to be that director Marc Webb said, "I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship. Shailene is an incredibly talented actress and while we only shot a few scenes with Mary Jane, we all love working with her." Of course, there's nothing said of Woodley returning for the next sequel. So maybe Webb and producers just didn't like how Woodley jived with the franchise, but they didn't feel the need to publicly declare that? Woodley seemed optimistic that she would be back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but that may not be the case anymore. Stay tuned.

Man, superheroes get the hottest girls. It's not fair.

I'm guessing you didn't care much for Liv Tyler as Armen in LOTR?

Arwen. Not really, no. Although she looked way better in LOTR than in The Incredible Hulk.

She looks more like Felicia Harding from the comics. Black Cat FTW!

Now that Shailene's out, I have no intention of watching this sham of a series. Honestly, did they REALLY need to remake Spiderman? I loved the Sam Raimi films. This new series is just a joke.
