Sounds like every studio needs their own high speed racing franchise. Universal continues to make waves with their Fast & the Furious series, DreamWorks has the video game adaptation Need for Speed with "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul, and Legendary is starting to hit the gas on their big screen adaptation of the Hot Wheels toy car line. Now The Wrap reports Sony is getting in the game with a feature film take on the Playstation exclusive racing game Gran Turismo. The Social Network producing team Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, who are also working on Fifty Shades of Grey, will produce the film. Read on!
The Gran Turismo racing game series has become know for its stunning graphics and realistic driving controls. In fact, Spanish racecar driver Lucas Ordonez started racing virtual cars in the video game before getting behind the wheel of a real racecar. As a student, Ordonez beat out 25,000 gamers for one of 22 spots in PlayStation 3's Gran Turismo competition, which was basically a racing boot camp. And now Ordonez is a real racecar driver. It's not clear what kind of story will be set in the world of Gran Turismo or who will direct, but with Brunetti and De Luca producing, we're sure they'll get some great talent. Cool?

This is one that I bet would be good in 3D. I can't imagine the story, I'd prefer a documentary/music video style I think.
