Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? It's Kind of a Big Deal. They're back for more! Now in theaters is the long-awaited sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, following up the hilarious 2004 comedy Anchorman. Will Ferrell returns as Ron Burgundy and brings back the entire news team: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner, along with Christina Applegate. They also encounter newcomers Meagan Good, James Marsden and Kristen Wiig. How is this sequel? Better than the first or at least as good? Funny or not? If you've seen it, leave a comment with your thoughts on Anchorman 2.

Spoiler Warning: We strongly urge everyone to actually see the film before reading ahead, as there may be spoilers below. We also encourage all commenters to keep major spoilers from the film to a minimum, if possible. However, this is an open discussion from this point on! Beware of spoilers, don't ruin this film!

To kick start the discussion, I love Anchorman, but I do not love Anchorman 2. Now, I will say it's a good movie, but it's also f*cking nuts, like off its rocker. The places it goes in the story, especially with Burgundy's temporary fate at the lighthouse, plus all the crazy racism with his partner Linda Jackson, it was all just too much. Too crazy. It had some hilarious moments, I'll give it that, but just didn't feel as memorable as the first Anchorman. Then again, comparisons aside, it's still an entertaining movie on its own, running over 2 hours and feeling a tad too long but not without some great laughs throughout. I wish it wasn't all of the big cameos in that one scene alone, but there are a few other good ones. Maybe I need to see it again sometime.

So what did you think of Adam McKay's Anchorman 2? A hilarious sequel, or racist disaster?

Haven't seen it yet. All I know is that no matter how bad it is, I will tell everyone I know that it's my favorite movie ever.

awful movie. I didnt have huge expectations either but I thought it would be at least a little funny. Swindled.

I thought it was pretty damn funny. First one was better but so what. "Brick where did you get that laser gun?"

This movie was so funny people were crying. My face hurt from smiling too much. It's the same team that did the Other Guys, so there's even a little biting social commentary there too. I think people need to be honest with themselves when going in. If you didn't like the first one (or silly movies in general i.e. like Monty Python), then don't watch it. Don't understand the hate. Sure a few jokes fell flat, but overall it's a better/funnier film than the first one.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I've never ever fallen asleep in a movie theater til now. Holy hell was this stupid and boring.

I saw the movie and was deeply disappointed with the direction much of the humor was taking. There was a heavy emphasis on racially directed jokes and the tension in the theater was palpable. There were clear moments when laughter was held back. They depicted Linda Jackson as a sex crazed wild black woman and perpetuated the idea of sleeping with a woman of color as an oddity. The dinner scene was just terrible. To round it off, a sprinkling of racist jokes directed toward the Mexican community, beginning with will ferrel accusing "Lupita" of eating nachos and Christina applegate threatening to lock her in a closet. Terrible terrible terrible

Ummm the movie is set in the 70's. It was still mildly taboo....

I was so completely and utterly disappointed with this. Horrible from start to finish with none of the charm of the original. The new characters are pointless and the returning characters lost all the appeal that made them our favorite news team. The kid playing Ron Burgundy's son is one of the most annoying people to ever be filmed and the big battle at the end was the straw of stupid that broke the camel's back. I've never been so disappointed in Ferrell. So bad that I think it made me retroactively dislike the first one.

I went and saw the movie and was deeply disappointed. I had high expectations for the movie when I walk in but I couldn't appreciate the style of the movie. It had too much emphasis on racism against black people, and quite frankly that's the way it is that why 'certain' people found it so funny. I loved the first movie but too much tension was in the theater during that movie. If I could I would of deff got my money back. But I guess whatever floats your boat, that's what type of movie the people were yearning for so...
