Now that you've seen it, what did you think? The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel. Now showing in theaters is Ron Howard's Rush, telling the story of rival Formula One drivers Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Brühl) and James Hunt (played by Chris Hemsworth). The two raced against each other in the 1970s, with Lauda ending up in a fiery crash that almost took his life, but he was back out on the track again within weeks. So how is the new Ron Howard movie? As good as the trailers look? Does it have problems or is it perfect? If you've seen it, leave a comment with your own thoughts on Ron Howard's Rush.

To fuel the engines and race around the Formula One tracks, I loved Rush. There's just something about it, from the racing scenes to the tension on and off the track, to everything about the drivers and what goes into their psyche, was thrilling and engaging and exciting to watch. I must commend Daniel Brühl above all else, as he is outstanding in this, truly falling deep into the role and giving his all both mentally and physically as Niki Lauda. On the other side, Hemsworth is also damn good as James Hunt, playing the perfect playboy hotshot with some humanity to him. I enjoyed watching these two battle each other on and off the track, but personally enjoyed the racing scenes more than anything else. Easily Ron Howard's best film in a few years.
What did you think of Ron Howard's Rush? One of Howard's best movies or one of his worst? We will remove any comments that indicate you have not seen the movie, as this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts. Please keep the comments civilized!

Loved it. I think it gains a lot from focusing more on the characters than on the racing, but overall it's a good mix. Really solid performances from Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl in particular. The trailers reveal a bit too much though, so stay away from those if you can.

Fantastic film! He did a phenomenal job capturing the emotions and tensions inherent in the sport as the rivalry plays out.

Loved it--a damned fine film, certainly one of the best films I've seen all year. Pardon the pun, but it fired on all cylinders. Helmsworth and Bruhl were fantastic, and Howard's direction was solid. And I have to give praise to Hans Zimmer's soundtrack; both RUSH and MAN OF STEEL are his one-two punch for this year. Even if you're not familiar with F-1 racing, RUSH sill works. It is not perfect, but its flaws are outpaced by its strengths. Definitely worth seeing.

Thought it was great, Hemsworth and Bruhl were great against each other.

Awesome flick. Easily one of the very best racing moves ever made. Maybe the fact that it's all true perhaps should propel it to the top? Story, acting, costumes, set's, the car's (!) - all looked and felt spot on and and real. The danger almost palpable in some scene's. Took my wife and mother-in-law - and both of them loved it to (and they're about as "non-racefan" as u can get!). By the time we got to the end my wife was crushing my arm/hand she was that into it....

Agree -- a very, very good film. But special mention must be made of the cinematography and editing. Saturated, analog look to the film -- very pulsating editing of a sport where so many things are going on.
