GOLDEN BRIEFCASE
TGB Episode 151: The Art of The Spoof (Guest: AICN's Alan Cerny)
by Tim Buel
April 12, 2013
On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim and Jeremy are joined by guest Alan Cerny aka "Nordling" from Ain't It Cool News to go over their latest picks of the week, the newest in DVD & Blu-ray releases, new trailers for James DeMonaco's The Purge, Ron Howard's Rush and Neill Blomkamp's Elysium and much more. The main topic of the night was a discussion on the comedy sub-genre of spoofs, with yet another Scary Movie sequel in theaters this week. The guys talk over the various methods of spoofing and whether or not we are willing to put up with the garbage to find the few gems within the genre. Listen in!
The Golden Briefcase is also broadcast LIVE on Wednesday nights starting ~7:30PM PST. You can listen in via our Ustream page or by visiting our own live page right here on FS. The podcast is just as fun to listen to live while it's being recorded, with plenty of special guests, so I suggest you tune in the next time it records.

YES! Pacific Rim is my #1 movie to see this year too. Good call. I was a little underwhelmed by the Elysium trailer too...it just seemed like a bigger version of all the things he went for in District 9. I personally was a bit let down by District 9 as well.

Good discussion, some interesting points as always. Question: Would you consider last year's Ted a spoof (of Hollywood cinema)? Also, a suggestion for a grill-the-guest question: If you could only watch one filmmaker's films for the rest of your life who would you pick? By the way I wanted to ask you to include the snacks question, but you already did, so that was cool 🙂
