Tom Cruise Confirmed for Another Fifth 'Mission: Impossible' Movie
Briefly: It has been confirmed by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions that actor Tom Cruise will once again return and star as Ethan Hunt in another Mission: Impossible movie. We've known since last year that Paramount was working on a follow-up to Brad Bird's MI: Ghost Protocol, and is looking to get Christopher McQuarrie in the director's chair, but he's not entirely set yet. In the meantime, this is much more Cruise's franchise and he's important to have back if they want to keep making successful M:I movies. No other details have been release about M:I:5 yet. It's now in development with Cruise and McQuarrie, who last worked together on Jack Reacher. I'm curious to see how they keep this series fresh with one more.
Hope Renner is there. I want Edward Norton to be the villain. I don't know why. Somebody pass that along to Paramount and Cruise for me, okay?

I want Simon Pegg back, the team the had in the last movie as pretty great... but they dont usually bring back the same teams But M:I:4 was supposed to set up Renner as the new lead of the M:I franchise so it would be smart the keep him in there

Wasn't the biggest fan of Jack Reacher, so I'm not really sure about McQuarrie. The last two M:I flicks have been awesome though.

At least for me, I think the mediocrity of Jack Reacher stemmed more from the script/plot than it did from execution. Maybe McQuarrie didn't break the mold and deliver something completely new and breathtaking, but execution wise I'd say he was solid.

It will be interesting to see what more they can do with it I just hope the villain has a bigger speaking role than the last one. GP didn't blow me away but really none of them have (although I enjoyed 3 a Hell of a lot) I just hope this doesn't turn into the Die Hard Franchise.

I think I am the only one who thought the last one was far to hokey. I enjoyed 3 and 1 far more than GP.

Nope you're not the only one there were a couple of scenes I enjoyed but overall I was somewhat let down after I enjoyed the 3rd one so much it's like hit and miss for me (1st one liked, 2nd one not so much, 3rd one heavily enjoyed, and GP eh) Maybe this one will be better

I thought Ghost Protocol was the one of the fun, coolest action films of that year. But Brad Bird was the main reason behind that. I'm always up for some more M:I, but it will take a great script and director's vision to make sure there's still life in it. Fingers crossed.

Let's do this. I'll bring the beer. We'll sneak it in.

Great news! For me was MI4 the best action movie of that year! But i want Brad Bird back at the directors chair!

The first Mission Impossible was good, except for the corrupt Jim Phelps angle. Otherwise it was a pretty good team effort. And MI movies should be about the team, not just one person. If Tom can put aside his ego for a moment and actually OK a script that has him and other team members participating in a caper movie, it could work. More hair-flipping and ego stroking is just boring for audiences. Sorry, I thought Ghost Protocol was totally forgettable.
