'Transcendence' Viral Video Reveals RIFT Organization and Website

December 20, 2013
Two teaser trailers for Wally Pfister's sci-fi flick Transcendence appeared with some techno imagery, accompanied by voiceovers from Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. There's another one coming later tonight (maybe narrated by Cillian Murphy or Rebecca Hall?), but now we have a viral video from an organization called RIFT (Revolutionary Independence From Technology). As you might have guessed, they're an organization is opposed to technological advances, and likely the ones who are after Depp as he attempts to achieve transcendence. The video reveals the official website for RIFT, but nothing has been posted there yet except a teaser image and this video. If anything cool pops up over there, we'll let you know.
Here's the RIFT viral video for Wally Pfister's Transcendence from the organization's website:
Transcendence is directed by Wally Pfister (cinematographer on Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy) and written by Jack Paglen, with rewrites by Alex Paraskevas & Jordan Goldberg. Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. When anti-technology extremists threaten his life, they inadvertently trigger a quick move towards his transcendence, and Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. Warner Bros will be releasing Transcendence in theaters on April 18th next year.
