Vin Diesel is the 'World's Most Wanted' from 'Fast & Furious' Producer

Vin Diesel

With Fast & Furious 6 pulling in some major box office bucks, it's already a good year for Vin Diesel, and the actor still has the sci-fi sequel Riddick on the way (though it likely won't make as big of a splash as the aforementioned sequel). With news about Diesel working with Marvel on the horizon, it appears even bigger things are on the way for the actor, and Universal Pictures has just set up the action star in another adventure as well. Deadline reports Diesel will lead World's Most Wanted, a film that will reunite the actor with the Fast & Furious franchise producer Neal Moritz and the Original Films production banner.

Plot details are scarce, but the film is described as an action adventure from an original pitch by Will Staples and Sean O'Keefe (who wrote the video game Lair) and Wrath of the Titans scribe Dan Mazeau will rewrite their original draft. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, but hopefully the source material is good enough to make for a solid flick. There are also rumors that Diesel will reunite with Moritz for a sequel to xXx, something that has been gestating since 2009. Personally, Diesel's new efforts sound better than a return to the mediocre well that was xXx, but we'll see what happens.

Sometimes I love witnessing career ups and downs. Diesel seemed like the next big action star after Pitch Black, The Fast and the Furious, and xXx. But then Chronicles of Riddick wasn't successful, and he fell back on a family film like The Pacifier(which I did not care for). August 2008 Babylon AD performs poorly(Despite the Director's Cut being a very solid sci-fi action flick) Then April of 2009 Fast & Furious comes along, and it's his biggest opening and his biggest box office performer, and just like that he's sort of back on the up-spin. Fast Five was a huge hit, Furious 6 was an even bigger blockbuster success, he has Riddick on the way, with Fast and Furious 7 coming next July. Throw in rumors of him playing a role in Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as the possibility of him returning to the xXx franchise... As a fan, I'm just happy that things are going well for him.
