Vin Diesel Practices Groot Motion Capture for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
While Vin Diesel has hinted that there's something big in store between him and Marvel Studios, the most immediate collaboration has the Fast & Furious franchise star playing Groot, the tree alien superhero who is part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. We knew that Diesel would provide the voice for the character, but it was revealed a short time later that the actor would also be doing the motion capture for the large cosmic hero. Now we get a taste of what Diesel will be doing on set as he's just posted a video to Facebook from the set of Fast & Furious 7, and he's walking on some pretty big stilts in the middle of a parking lot. Look now!
Check out his Groot practice on set video, which Vin Diesel posted to his personal Facebook page:
In the video (via Comic Book Movie), Diesel reveals that the voiceowork really won't be that taxing. The actor says, "My father taught me there are no small roles, only small actors. I have one line in the movie, but that doesn’t mean anything. I’m still going to make it the best thing I possibly can. Even if it means taking Andy Serkis to a whole other level, which is what we wanna do with our motion capture." This isn't all that surprising, since to anyone who doesn't understand Groot's language, it just sounds like he's saying, "I am Groot." We're not sure if we'll only hear this line once in the movie, or if it's just the only line Diesel will say. Either way, it's still cool to see him so pumped about a small but pivotal part like this. Sound good?
