Vince Vaughn on 'Business Trip' from 'Promotion' Writer Steve Conrad

After delivering the second highest ratings of the season last weekend for "Saturday Night Live," funnyman Vince Vaughn, who will be seen later this summer with his Wedding Crashers cohort Owen Wilson in The Internship, is taking a little trip for New Regency. The Wrap has word that Vaughn is in talks to lead the comedy Business Trip, a script from The Pursuit of Happyness and The Promotion writer Steve Conrad which follows an American businessman on a trip to Europe where everything can and does go wrong. The pitch was picked up last year and was described as being in the same vein as Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
As long as we're not looking at another pseudo remake of the classic Steve Martin and John Candy comedy (we're looking at you Due Date), then this could be funny. The fast-talking Vaughn could bring some good laughs in foreign locales, and Conrad seems to be a little more gifted when it comes to less conventional comedy. The Promotion was an amusing little comedy with John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott that could've gone the silly commercial route, but it's better than that. Conrad is also behind the new adaptation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty for director Ben Stiller, so we'll see how that turns out. We'll likely hear more on this project soon so stay tuned as more details become available.

I hope Vaughn has the range for this as I don't think it will be a straight up comedy like he's used to. I like Vaughn because I grew up with Old School and Wedding Crashers, but I've never had any kind of emotional tie to any of his work.
