Silicon;BootDrive Short

"A meteor collided with the Earth and changed human race." That's all you really need to know about this independent sci-fi short film, called Silicon;BootDrive directed by a Japanese filmmaker called "A.T." We've been featuring a couple of indie projects recently that have come under some scrutiny, but I continue to believe there is impressive work out there being done on limited budgets by up-and-coming filmmakers with great potential. While this does get a little cheesy with the weird philosophical conversation, the VFX and monsters look great and it's a cool world. This may only be online until June 11th - fire it up right away!

Synopsis for Silicon;BootDrive from Vimeo (tip via Geeks are Sexy): It’s the year 2015. A meteor collided with the Earth and changed human race. "How were we created? Why do we live? And where are we headed? I wanted to know. And that's why I’m here. ~David Craws~" The short was written & directed by Japanese filmmaker "A.T.". It was shot by cinematographer Yuichiro Otsuka, with visual effects by Ludens Co.,Ltd. finitto inc. spirot inc. SAMPRAS design and Shirogumi inc. The cast includes Ken Lloyd, Bartek Kuc and Reon Kadena
. For more on Silicon;BootDrive, goto Vimeo. A.T. also directed the short Source.

this is laughably bad. especially the acting. ambition with or without resources is nothing without instinct for what works on a whole imho.

Nothing is redeeming about this short aside from neat effects. I use the word 'neat' lightly. This is a far better short film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiqGhWKPUBg

I'm not sure that is better.

It's like they couldn't find actors so the effects artists did it themselves.

Great concept, now take some of that money used on the CGI and hire some decent talent for your actors!

I like it. I can see to potential. It has a similar plot to the Dead Space games where humans are evolving into a new species and the religious angle. Thanks for sharing these shorts.

Sorry, not a frame worth passing light through.

Wow! So much hate in the comments. Sure the acting is lacking, but the idea and execution are pretty ambitious. Some of the creature animation, shading, lighting, tracking was actually pretty good. Unless you know that these folks had tons of time and $$ to make this, I'd back off a little. Rarely are your first films a homerun, but this shows a lot of promise. I'd say, I'd love to see what they do with their next film... as long as they improve, I'm all for it. Rock on guys (and gals)!

Is this dubbed? i think from what I've read it is, that makes the acting seem a little hokey, but I liked how it got quite anime at the end.

reon kadena is a pornstar

Worst acting captured on film to date. Seriously, why spend so much time on CGI, setup etc. to ruin everything by using worst actors possible? I know, they acted themselves (the artists), which makes them stupid. No bright future ahead I'm afraid.
