Epic

It's officially spring, which means some great movies are just around the corner for the whole family to enjoy. While there's Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness and Fast & Furious 6 coming in May, there's also something for the younger kids in the form of Epic, the adaptation of William Joyce's children's book The Leaf Men. We've seen a handful of trailers for the film, and while they all look pretty, it seems to be lacking a heartbeat. And this trailer kind of solidified that as it chooses to spend time highlighting the big name cast members like Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz, Josh Hutcherson and many more.

Here's the newest trailer for Blue Sky Animation's Epic, originally in high def from Apple:

A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and evil rages on. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world -- and ours.

Epic is based on The Leaf Men by William Joyce (the same author behind the books that inspired Rise of the Guardians) being directed by Chris Wedge (who previously directed the first Ice Age and Robots for Blue Sky, and also voices the prehistoric squirrel Scrat). The voice cast includes Josh Hutcherson as Nod, Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine, Beyoncé Knowles, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, Jason Sudeikis, Pitbull, Christoph Waltz and Judah Friedlander. 20th Century Fox will be bringing Blue Sky Animation's Epic to theaters everywhere in 3D starting early this summer on May 24th, 2013. Anyone interested?

Funny, I thought his voice matches that of a brawny villain perfectly.

As long as I refer to the little people in this as fairies rather than "leaf Men" then my daughter is going to love it.
