Thor: The Dark World

The blockbuster sequel Thor: The Dark World has already been in theaters for over a month, and now fans are looking forward to Captain America: The Winter Soldier arriving next April. But in the meantime, why not take a look at how the visual effects came together? This little sizzle reel from Blur Studio shows how various pieces of filmmaking came together from computer generated visual effects to blue screen set shooting and even the use of a camera rig that shoots on an empty special effects stage within a virtual environment for big action scenes. It's an eye-opening and impressive look at how these VFX work.

Here's the visual effects breakdown for Thor: The Dark World from Blur Studio (via Movies.com):

n the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) fights to restore order across the cosmos, but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") directs Thor: The Dark World which arrived in theaters on November 8th. Go see it already!

Is nothing real any more? 🙂 Pretty impressive with the camera movement being taken into the final scenes.

The breakdown of this one sequence is longer than the entire sequence in the film. HA HA HA HA

Clever stuff, but is it too CG dense? There's a lot of dramatic tension lost when most of the environments and characters are just computer generated. Not much looks "real". My two cents.
