"If you lived with a secret, what would you do?" WestEnd Films has debuted the first international trailer for their new vampire thriller Byzantium, directed by Neil Jordan. The film stars Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as two, ahem, young vampires (it's not really a spoiler here, even though they do keep it a "secret" in the film) living in a small town in England. Byzantium premiered at TIFF last year, where I first saw it, and it's a dark, seductive, bloody but entertaining film, worth giving a chance. Jonny Lee Miller, Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley and Tom Hollander also co-star. If that excites you, it may be for you!
Watch the first international trailer for Neil Jordan's vampire film Byzantium, found by The Film Stage:
Byzantium is directed by Irish filmmaker Neil Jordan, of the films Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, The End of the Affair, The Good Thief, Breakfast on Pluto, The Brave One and Ondine previously, as well as work on "The Borgias". The screenplay was written by Moira Buffini, based on her own play. This was shot mostly in Ireland as A Vampire Story, and stars Jonny Lee Miller, Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley and Tom Hollander. WestEnd Films produced, and StudioCanal is distributing in the UK, with IFC Films releasing in the US. This premiered at TIFF last year. We still don't have a release date for Byzantium, but will be out this year.

I thought it was partly made in Ireland but set in an English seaside town?

You're correct. At least that's what Jordan and original premises of the movie has indicated.

Oooh, The Company of Wolves is my favorite Neil Jordan film. If this is even half as beautiful and magical I'm all about it.

Yes, this is a real vampire movie, I'll pay for this. What is the reason The Vampire Lestat never got made? Now that we have all forgotten about Queen of the Damned, can't they just make it?

Good trailer. Would have been awesome had the music been not generic. Can't wait to watch it

Seems kind of weird how this article lists almost everything Jordan has directed besides his other popular vampire movie
