Watch: Dozens of Short Films from Franco, Egoyan, Schrader & More
At the Venice International Film Festival this year, they commissioned a series of 70 short films called Venezia 70 - Future Reloaded, in honor of the festival's 70th anniversary. The shorts range from one to three minutes, and each acts as a unique tribute to the film festival, with complete creative freedom and no input from the festival itself. Entries came from filmmakers like James Franco (As I Lay Dying), Bernardo Bertolucci (Last Tango in Paris), Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver), Atom Egoyan (The Devil's Knot) and dozens more, and now pretty much all of them are available online for you to watch right now.
Here's the full YouTube playlist for Venezia 70 - Future Reloaded, first found via The Playlist:
The rest of the entries include dozens of foreign filmmakers from all over the world, and only a couple of them don't have their shorts available online. The release about the collection says, "Future Reloaded is both a collective movie tribute to the Festival (the world’s first film festival to celebrate its 70th edition) and a reflection on the future of cinema, as filtered through the personal artistic insight of each of the participating directors." If you're interested you can check out the entire list of filmmakers at the Venice International Film Festival's website right here. Check out the shorts in playlist format above. Cool films?
