Today, we began running the gamut that is Comic-Con here in San Diego. Across from the convention center, you can see some big banners for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hyping the panel happening Friday, July 19th at 4pm in Hall H. And in addition to those banners, there's also a short video teaser featuring Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro. With a menacing voiceover and some sweeping shots of equipment in the lab of Max Dillon, there's a pretty cool reveal of the electrified villain before a bumper appears directing people to the exciting panel. The good news is you don't have to be here to see it. Watch!
Here's the Electro teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, originally found on YouTube:
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb and written by Jeff Pinker, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds, life is busy between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away, but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. Sony will release Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters next summer on May 2nd, 2014. Excited?

Yes! Now I have something to keep me even more excited for the panel when I sleep in line over night to get in.

I've always thought it would be fun to go to comic-con. Here's hoping it's great.

Oh for goodness sakes he looks like Mr.Freeze from Batman and Robin. I know people are going to reply and be like oh it's just an early look but that's what he looks like in this clip. Don't doubt me on that one. His voice is at least descent but not menacing. I don't know why they always have to go for these over the top low villain voices.

IMO Jamie Foxx has had one solid performance in Collateral otherwise its just been shit and mediocrity.

It's not Max Dillon's lab, its obviously some kind of holding unit that has him strapped in.

The first film certainly had it's ups and downs...here's hoping this one is an improvement.

The first film sucked.

I've not had a desire to watch it a 2nd time, that's for sure. But it wasn't necessarily 'sucking' so much that SO much of the film was a re-tread of the 2002 film, it felt like too much of variations on the same ideas and not enough of it's own. This film will be much more in it's own direction, and that is not a promise that it will be better, but I'm at least slightly optimistic.

Mostly downs.

The first was poor and suffered from the same banality that Raimi's films did. How can the cartoon work so well and make Parker a character you like whilst the films just keep missing the target.

How come Sony didn't realize yet that Marc Webb is not the man for the job?

I don't know how anyone can judge a film or the director's ability to handle the material based solely on a short clip. The first film was an awesome and fresh way of rebooting the movies. Likable characters, more grounded in reality and with the sort of humorous and serious mix that these films needs. I think Marc Webb did a great job. And with the exception of Spiderman 3, Raimi's films have stood at the pinnacle of the comic book movie craze. Quite the opposite of sucking.

Well, Raimi got pissed (or should I say, frustrated) that the studio wanted more than one villain in part 3. He just wanted Sandman as the main villain but Sony wanted him to include Venom. Thus, Spider-Man 3 became what it was sadly. Sub par compared to the excellent Spider-Man 2 which to me was the best one so far.

Agreed, I sometimes see a lot of hate towards Raimis films, I mean ffs spiderman 1 and 2 are what brought in the entire comic book adaptation craze.

"And with the exception of Spiderman 3, Raimi's films have stood at the pinnacle of the comic book movie craze." I have to disagree but their success has unfortunately meant they've spawned plenty of equally empty comic book films.

As a fan of the first The Amazing Spider-Man I am strongly looking forward to this movie. I will not judge the movie out of this clip, but I have to say I was expecting Spider-Man footage. Sure it's only a clip for Comic Con and the awesome footage is yet to come, but this is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, not the Shocking Electro. When you give the audiences a first impression of your movie it's crucial that you make it right. Giving us Electro, at least for me, doesn't give me an impression of the movie at all. We don't know anything about this character that's the first thing that's being presented to us. I never got int the whole idea that Electro was the main villain. Hopefully they have made it right and use Electro in a matter that truly serves the movie's plot a good purpose.

The 1st flick was cool. It wasn't perfect, but it rocked! I know there are higher expectations for this one, but I'm sure Foxx will knock this one out of the park. I wasn't too thrilled with this casting, but then again, I wasn't too thrilled with Rhys Ifans casting as 'The Lizard' either. But, it worked out well! I won't knock this flick without seeing it!
