How about that for some alliteration? After the kick-ass Super Bowl spot and extended trailer for Fast & Furious 6 arrived, even naysayers of the franchise like myself had to applaud the audacity and wild action of the sequel. In what has become an Avengers assembly of car thieves from the previous films, the fast-paced sequel promises some outrageous moments. Now a new featurette slows things down and vaguely talks about the return of Michelle Rodriguez as Letty. Franchise star Vin Diesel says this is like her origin story (though not a prequel), but the coolest thing is how Rodriguez found out about her resurrection.
Here's the new featurette for Justin Lin's Fast & Furious 6, originally from Yahoo:
Since Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian’s (Paul Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have are on the lam around the world. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Luke Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Now, with full pardons and the chance at returning home on the line, Dom and his crew team up with the right side of the law to stop these criminals at street level in London. Justin Lin directs Fast & Furious 6 written by Chris Morgan. Universal will release in theaters May 24th.

Waxing poetic about this series is laughable, but commendable.

Never would have thought this franchise would make it to a 6th installment, and that I would be more excited for that one than any of the rest.

Diesel keeps hinting at even more sequels too. And if they can keep the momentum, then why not?

I'd be up for a 7th being the last one. But really, it's already 'bigger' than that. The character 'Han' is from Justin Lin's previous film 'Better Luck Tomorrow' where he is in High School and is a smoker(as alluded to in Fast Five)...so it's sort of unofficially a part of the franchise as well. So if you include the 6 FF films, Better Luck Tomorrow, a potential 7th film and a potential spin-off about Hobbs(Dwayne Johnson's character) then you are up to NINE films. All spawning from a rather modest action/racing film.

Justin Lin brought this franchise back on the road.

And what I love is his dedication. He made Tokyo Drift, the least successful financially at the box office. Some directors would have called it quits and said 'Well, I should probably move on to other things' but he stuck with it and sought out a way to get the franchise back on track. ON TOP OF THAT, he even weaved the characters/story in a way that actually brought extra value to the other sequels by having characters from each return and play more integral roles in his films. They all feel like they build up to the bigger stories and none of them feel like the odd-one-out.

The only real misstep he made was the "time jump" in F&F 3. But he probably could not have known he would be back for three more films.

Agreed...the only way he could bring back Han(he likes working with the actor) was to do some sort of time jump for the 4th, and of course, when the concept of 'bring everyone in for the 5th' came up, they decided 'well this one can be before he dies as well', and now with the 6th it seems like they might actively tie it in and any 7th film would take place after Tokyo Drift.
