"How does an ordinary bag of chocolate sweets become a symbol of sexual victory?" As expected, the first teaser has arrived for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg. We usually have a policy against "clips" of footage, but this is more of a teaser and part of the incredibly unique promo they're doing for this film. Gainsbourg isn't in this footage yet, instead it's a tease for Chapter 1: The Compleat Angler (full chapter list) of this life story about a nymphomaniac and her erotic experiences. It is an odd clip, but the perfect first little tease. And if you get uncomfortable, just think of a bag of chocolate sweeties.

Here's the first teaser for Chapter 1 of Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, direct from YouTube:

"As Joe and her experienced friend B embark on a train trip, they bet on how many men they can seduce on the ride. The grand prize is a delicious bag of chocolate sweets, and it soon becomes clear to Joe that in order to win, she needs to lure the prey into biting the hook like a skilled fisherman." French-English actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, who appeared explicitly in von Trier's Antichrist a few years ago, will play Joe, as the story is about her "hidden erotic desires" and spans her life story from a young age to age 50. Beyond Gainsbourg, the cast includes Stellan Skarsgard, likely Willem Dafoe, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Shia LaBeouf, too. Shooting wrapped last year, and Lars von Trier is currently finishing the film. Nymphomaniac will likely premiere at the fall festivals (Venice & Toronto) before opening in Denmark on December 25th.

Actually Gainsbourg didn't appear explicitly in Antichrist. Von trier uses body doubles for the really naughty scenes. Bar none, Von Trier is best filmmaker working today. The guy is on an incredible roll and I can't wait to see this new one.
