"Chins up, smiles on." Wow. Lionsgate has unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, adapted Suzanne Collins' bestselling sci-fi novels. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss, and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, as well as Elizabeth Banks as Effie and many others. Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee gets some screentime in this, as well as many other old and new members of the cast. To be frank, this looks excellent. Francis Lawrence has taken the reigns of this series and elevated it to new heights. It's a fantastic sci-fi world that they've brilliantly setup to an epic conclusion and I honestly can't wait to see this play out. Enjoy!
Here's the first teaser trailer for Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, via YouTube:
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, a competition that could change Panem forever. Francis Lawrence directs the film written by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) and it arrives November 22nd, 2013. Excited?

Looks like Francis Lawrence has found the formula that worked so well in the first movie.

Love how they purposely avoided showing the event in the trailer.

well its a massive twist for the reader/viewer. Some folks who live in caves may not know it yet :P.

I'm sure the full trailer will give it away though. And if people were really listening to Snow, they could probably figure out what's going to happen.

If you read the book, then you'd already know what's going to happen.

And thanks to both of you for not blurting it out 🙂 I'm one of those cave-dwellers.

Looking good, I should have forgotten the book well enough by the time I see this to really enjoy it. Hunger Games was to fresh in my mind when I saw it took away from my over all experience.

How is this a teaser?! It's a damn long trailer that shows the whole movie is what!

It actually doesn't even show half the story, which is impressive....unless they ignored 60% of the book lol

Definitely not - this is all footage from the first 1/3 of the movie, doesn't show several of the major new characters and avoids nearly everything from the 2nd and 3rd acts. Smart marketing.

Yeah I really like how they only teased what is to come. It was smart.

it shows the most boring part of the movie - and given how good it still looks, we're in for a treat!

These are those rare films that can actually be better than the book. I did not care much for the second book but from the looks of this teaser, they are going to do it justice as with the first book.

Wow, I must say I am surprised at how much I loved this trailer. It has a dark tone that the first movie couldn't quite get to.

Maybe they took a lesson from the HP series. Start off innocent looking and get darker as the series progresses, which is the right way to go.

I read the book and can't WAIT to see the movie!!!
