A Field in England

Just recently we learned about the unique distribution plan in the United Kingdom for A Field in England, a trippy period horror thriller from Kill List and Sightseers director Ben Wheatley. In addition, Drafthouse Films just picked up the film for distribution here in the United Sates. It's good timing because now the first trailer has arrived for the film about a group of English Civil War soldiers in the 17th century who are captured by an alchemist and led into a vast mushroom field, where they fall victim to violent and nightmarish forces. It looks like another wild and unique film from Wheatley, a truly talented filmmaker.

Here's the first trailer for Ben Wheatley's A Field in England from Picturehouse Cinemas:

A Field in England is directed by Ben Wheatley from a screenplay co-written by Wheatley and Amy Jump. The story follows a small group of deserters fleeing from a raging battle through an overgrown field. As they are captured by O'Neil, an alchemist, they are forced to aid him in finding a hidden treasure he believes is buried in the field. Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group descends into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia as it becomes clear the treasure might not simply be gold. The film hits the United Kingdom on July 5th and the United States later this year. Thoughts?
