Watch: Gen Ip's Stellar 'Filmography 2013' Year-End Retrospective
by Ethan Anderton
December 11, 2013
As the year winds down, we're taking a look back at the year in 2013 by way of the films that hit the big screen. We've already features some impressive retrospective videos like Cinefile 2013, Final Cut 2013 and The 2013 Movie Trailer Mash-Up. However, my favorite just might be our latest entry, Filmography 2013, from Gen Ip (formerly Genrocks). This editor has delivered retrospectives for 2010, 2011, and 2012, and this latest one is another fantastic piece of work looking at films like The Croods, Ender's Game, Rush, 42, To the Wonder, A.C.O.D., Thor: The Dark World, Riddick and much more. Watch it below!
Here's the fantastic Filmography 2013 from Gen Ip's own YouTube page via SlashFilm:
Again, this one still features a clip from The Monuments Men, but since the film was taken out of the running late in the year, we'll let it slide. After all, there are still hours of work and hundreds of films in here. As Gen Ip says, "'Words are life,' says Max in 2013's The Book Thief, and indeed they hold us together and to help us share that transcendent phenomenon that is life. This video takes 300 of this year's films and distills it into a 7-minute exploration of the ideas we keep coming back to: the purpose of life, the nature of evil, the mystery of death, the power of love, and the inevitability of time." Well said. You can find a list of all the music on the video's YouTube page right here, and a complete list of film clips over here. Cool?
