Watch: Slick Adventure in 20-Minute 'Tomb Raider' Fan Film 'Croft'
by Ethan Anderton
December 30, 2013
If the Tomb Raider films starring Angelina Jolie just didn't satisfy your appetite as a fan of the Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics video game franchise, then a new fan film just might give you what you need. Trevor Addie directs and co-wrote Croft, a 20-minute short film based on female adventurer Lara Croft. Complete with a bow and arrow (which was added to the video game around the same time The Hunger Games made the weapon prominent again in mainstream action), Cassandra Ebner plays the title hero as she tries to save a young girl held hostage in the mountains by a group of mercenaries. It's pretty bad ass.
Here's Trevor Addie's live-action short film Croft, via ComingSoon:
Liam Carter, Devyn Dalton, Nickolas Baric, Shaw Madson and Brad Friesen also star in the film which won Best Action Short at the Atlanta Underground Film Fest. The film also received three nominations at the Action On Film Fest for Best Director, Best Short Action Film and Female Action Performer of the Year. Back in 2011, there were rumblings of a Tomb Raider reboot, but there's been no news since then, so this will have to hold fans over. For more information on the film, brought to our attention by ComingSoon, check out the short's Facebook page. Do you still want a new Tomb Raider?

Pretty good. Worst henchmen ever. LOL. And why didn't Lara have a British accent?

Haha gees those henchmen were the worst excuses of security ever!

I'd rather she not have a Brit accent if she can't do a good one & keep it going throughout.

I guess so. Still seemed weird since Lara Croft is English. I think the twist would have worked better if the "fake" Lara wasn't wearing the same exact outfit she wears in the latest game.

Yes English, sorry. All you Brits sound the same... 😉 LOL

Darn it! That twist would have been amazing if the young actor wasn't so awful while captive. Her brooding smiles were horrific. Otherwise I absolutely loved this! This is exactly how to make a game property a movie. The tone was perfect, taking itself partly serious but also letting it just be a bunch of crazy impossible kills and bullet dodging. Hats off to the director here, some of those action scenes were excellent. "Croft" actress needs a role in full Hollywood releases. I mean if that loser Mila Jovivich can land a role...

Having just watched Fast & Furious 6 last night, I'd say that Gina Carano would be amazingly well-suited for a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise (as Lara Croft, of course).

This clip prove me again Angelina was perfect cast for role but directing and script ruin one of best potential game-to-movie adoptions. I still wait for right work.
