Watch: Incredible 'Centrifuge Brain Project' Faux Theme Park Ride Doc

July 18, 2013

The Centrifuge Brain Project

A surpisingly cool panel in Hall H at Comic-Con came from Ron Diamond (program curator and president of Acme Filmworks and AWN.com) in the form of The 14th Annual Animation Show of Shows, presenting the best and newest in international animation. Films like Disney's Paperman and others played, but one that really tickled our fancy was a live-action faux documentary called The Centrifuge Brain Project. The film follows the studies of pseudo-mad scientist Dr. Nick Laslowicz and his wild amusement park prototypes, brought to life by some impressive visual effects work. "Gravity is a mistake," says the doctor.

Here's The Centrifuge Brain Project from the Institute for Centrifugal Research:

Till Nowak directs this impressive and unique faux documentary short which has won a slew of awards at dozens of film festivals around the world. The director currently works as a digital artist, designer and filmmaker on his own independent projects and as an efficient one-man-production-company for high profile clients. For more information on the projects and films from Nowak, check out his production company website Framebox.com, and to learn more about The Centrifuge Brain Project, visit the homepage of the Institute for Centrifugal Research with Dr. Nick Laslowicz on Facebook. More like Werner Herzog I would say.

I loved the remark he made about the 10K horse power (4:55). Basically referencing it to the human brain, where we only use 10% of it. But if we were to use 20%, then imagine the possibilities and capabilities of the human mind.

Bizarre, but I liked it.

This is very old. Good, but old.

True. It may be old, we may have posted it before, but it's still awesome and still cool to see (again).

Hasn't this has been posted on here before?

BurnZ on Jul 19, 2013

It probably has... to be honest. 🙂 But we just saw it played in Hall H at Comic-Con and decided to post about it because it was so cool.

Alex Billington on Jul 19, 2013

Ah ok. Fair enough. I tried to find the older article but failed.

BurnZ on Jul 19, 2013

Yea I searched too and nothing. I'm sure the short has been posted around the internet for a while, but still happy to feature it.

This video is like an extreme version of the computer game, Roller-coaster Tycoon.
