After the debut film Submarine from director Richard Ayoade delivered a charming but dark coming-of-age comedy, we were left looking forward to his next film. Now The Double is premiering this weekend at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, and the first trailer is here. Jesse Eisenberg plays Simon, a man who suddently has to contend with the fact that an exact double of him begins invading his life, and making a mockery of his existence as he is more confident, alluring and motivated than Simon himself. This almost feels like a Coen Brothers movie, and it looks like a promising new film from Ayoade. Watch below!
Here's the first trailer for Richard Ayoade's The Double, originally from The Guardian:
The Double is directed by Richard Ayoade (Submarine), who co-write the script with Avi Korine (brother of Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine), based on Dostoyevsky's The Double: A Petersburg Poem. The film follows Jesse Eisenberg as Simon, who arrives at work only to find an exact double of himself has usurped his tenuous position in the company. Routinely humiliated by his boss (Wallace Shawn), the neurotic Simon now has to deal with a doppelgänger that is everything he isn't: confident, charming, successful, superficial. Mia Wasikowska and Noah Taylor also star in the film which premieres at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, but doesn't have a theatrical release date set just yet. Looking good?

I'd read that as 'The Double Fist' trailer, but I think that's a different type of film altogether. Love Richard Ayoade and loved Submarine, so this should be bonus.

An idea explored in Buffy the Vampire Slayer {wife has boxset} when Zander has a more confident version of him walking around.
