Generation Um

Since The Day the Earth Stood Still in 2008, Keanu Reeves has laid relatively low key. The actor has appeared in indie films like Henry's Crime and produced and starred int he documentary Side by Side about digital filmmaking (watch it on Netflix Instant), and we're waiting to see 47 Ronin and Man of Tai Chi to come together at some point. Now another smaller release will see the big screen later this year with Generation Um. The film sees John (Reeves) and his two girlfriends enjoying a single night of partying, and documenting their social lifestyle, making revelations about each others, testing their relationship and more. Now the first trailer has arrived, and it feels like it's trying too hard to be an indie film. Watch below!

Here's the first trailer for Mark Mann's Generation Um, in high def from Apple:

After partying in New York City last night, John (Keanu Reeves) and his beautiful girlfriends Mia (Adelaide Clemens) and Violet (Bojana Novakovic) form an intimate bond as their deepest secrets from their past are revealed. Friendships are tested and compromises are made as these three friends prepare to do it all again tonight. Generation Um is written and directed by Mark Mann. The film has already been released on DVD in Europe, but arrives on VOD in the US on April 26th and hits limited theaters this summer on May 3rd.

Looks all right. Keanu's intro was a bit awkward though.

I feel like Keanu's character is meant to be 29 or so...

"and it feels like it's trying to hard to be an indie movie." - that would be "too" hard. And no, it doesn't try anything. It IS an indie movie. A word to the wise: don't judge a movie by its trailer. 😉

So you advice us to judge movies by...?

Nash on Mar 11, 2013

Keanu is not even supposed to be in this movie, does not suit the role.....some1 like Zac efron would be more likely. didnt expect that from him.

Neo on Mar 11, 2013

have you actually WATCHED the movie?

M. on Mar 11, 2013

No, and i will never watch it as it has really POOR ratings. It's SHIT. Your saying it like if you liked it....duh.

Neo on Mar 12, 2013

And did you just say some1?

Jon Odishaw on Mar 11, 2013

Despite him being kind of one dimensional, I fucking love Keanu Reeves

I categorize these films with the likes of "The Comedy", short stories about privileged youth who are lost is this sad world. These characters think their existential crisis is worth something. However, they don't care. Why should I care to watch them? I don't.
