If you haven't been watching the sketch comedy shoe "Key & Peele" on Comedy Central, you're missing out on some of the best sketch comedy on television. Simple premises backed up by witty, and often times nerdy, humor are the cornerstone of their show, and it works like gangbusters. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have crafted faux HBO documentary segments like Vincent Clortho's Wizarding School and an intense, energetic sketch featuring two valet parking attendants getting more than a little excited about the career of "Liam Neesons." Now the latter characters are back and couldn't be more excited about A Good Day to Die Hard with Bruce Willy, in theaters on Thursday, and the result is hilarious. Watch!
Here's Key & Peele's Die Hard sketch directly from Comedy Central (beware of spoilers… kinda):
My favorite part of this sketch is the seamless blend of legitimate details that fans of the movie would know, combined with inaccurate details. For example, referring to Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber character as Voldemort when the actor actually played Severus Snape in the Harry Potter franchise is hilarious, but then the duo reference "Urkel's dad," or Reginald VelJohnson in the first film as well. My personal favorite bit comes from when they talk about Die Hard with a Vengeance from referencing one of Sam Jackson's more obscure lines to referencing Jeremy Irons as Scar from The Lion King. I would love to see the outtakes from this day of shooting where there had to be a lot of improv for such a quick, fast-talking piece.
