After the first trailer for the remake of Evil Dead brought a lot of blood and cringeworthy cutting, the first poster was even more daring by calling it the "most terrifying film you will ever experience." Though remaking Evil Dead might seem blasphemous to cult horror fans out there, this new film does look quite grotesque and horrifying. Now another red band trailer for the film from Fede Alvarez has arrived and it definitely tries to deliver on the promise that first poster boldly made. Could this be the surprise horror hit of the year? It's opening in April like The Cabin in the Woods did in 2012, so we'll wait and see. Watch now!
Here's the new red band trailer for Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead, debuted on DareToShareYourScare.com:
Evil Dead (2013) is a Raimi-approved-and-produced remake of Sam Raimi's original 1981 low budget horror classic, The Evil Dead. Directing is Fede Alvarez, a Uruguayan filmmaker who broke into Hollywood with his short film Panic Attack, making his feature debut with this. He helped write the script after he came on-board, with Oscar winner Diablo Cody credited on the original draft. The new cast includes Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore. Sony Pictures and Screen Gems will be releasing this new Evil Dead in theaters on April 12th this spring. You scared yet?

I'm going to say this certainly looks impressive. I did question the "colour" of the blood as it seemed almost like kool-aid then flipped to proper style blood. But ummm, I don't see any main character to identify with, other than that if presented in a darker tone I think it can work. All the set pieces seemed very lit so that for me kind of kills the tension. With that all said, this is just a trailer, I'm sure there is much more. I'm in granted I can find someone willing to go with me lol

Keep in mind that the original Evil Dead didn't really have a protagonist until about a third of the way in, when Ash started taking the threat seriously. Before that he wasn't entirely the main character.

Had to stop as I reckon it was showing a lot of the film. Looks gruesome, but strangely was really well lit and not all dark and grimey, so that's a change

I dig the intensity. I miss Ash though.

The first trailer was good enough for me. Don't want to see anymore footage. I'm already sold.

Mental torment from the basement girl? YES!!! Kinda the only thing I wanted to see included in this movie, and now that it's confirmed, my hopes are higher than ever. I didn't expect it to be entirely like the originals, that probably asking too much, but I did want that mind game aspect, and it seems like they'll deliver. I love it

I think some of that red in these trailers will in fact be green and other colors on release, just like in the first movies. Might be fun at a midnight showing, but without Bruce Campbell, meh.

Absolute pile of shit. Hardly terrifying, just cheesy modern horror rubbish if you ask me.

I am really against remakes.... either come up with your own concept of a beloved franchise (The new Star Treks/ Batman Trilogy/etc.) or don't bother. Looking at something with new eyes is always appealing not just remake something since now we have CGI. When I heard they were remaking The Evil Dead I was very much against it. Cult films are cult films for a reason. They were so unique,it didn't matter about budget just story and characters. Stop trying to top something that in itself is at it's peak. Sam Rami created his own visual style thats become his signature -thats half of the movie and no new super metro-sexual teen actor can be Bruce Campbell's Ash. Luckily for us the studio went with a group who are not technically "remaking" the film or having the Ash character. Very Smart. As a horror nut- this looks good. It might just be love letter to the original but has its own voice. Its over the top (rule #1 in quirk horror) and I can not wait to see it.

And let's not forget that Raimi and Campbell are two of the driving forces behind the remake. That certainly helps to push it into the "will check out" column for me.

I agree completely. This is a flick I'll see in the theater, be overly enthusiastic about the macabre , cheer during the best death scenes, and generally creep out my fellow moviegoers. 🙂

Good lord...they literally are just going for as sickening and violent as possible. It could be overkill. Also, if they've swapped a male lead for a female lead...that's just utter hokum.
Chris Groves on Jan 4, 2013

This looks terrible...just more gross for the sake of being gross while throwing in some crazy eyes and make-up to make it seem scary. When will these people get it, watching people mutilate themselves and others is not scary. Boo for you Raimi

being a horror movie with with and dope action for its time. Ash was the first true badass in horror that wasn't a villain

Come up with something original. This is lazy filmmaking.

Agreed. It could work, or it could be a huge pile of s**t. I'm willing to check it out, since the creative team behind the original film are behind this remake.
