Watch: Paramount Debuts a Brand New 'Top Gun' IMAX 3D Trailer
"So you're the one?" Paramount has debuted a trailer for their upcoming 3D IMAX re-release of the 1986 action classic Top Gun, directed by the late Tony Scott. Starring Tom Cruise as Maverick, I revisited this movie when Tony Scott passed away last year, and it still holds up as an outstanding aerial combat fighter pilot thriller. Of course they had to go and upgrade it to 3D and put it out on IMAX to sell the experience, but is this really what this movie was made for? A 3D conversion? Maybe the flying scenes will be much more exciting, but what about the rest of it? Still, it's just cool to see this back in theaters anyway. Check it!
Here's the first official IMAX 3D trailer for Tony Scott's classic Top Gun, debuted on Yahoo:
For those who just don't know about Top Gun, the Tony Scott-directed film release from 1986 follows the macho students of an elite U.S. flying school for advanced fighter pilots as they compete to be best in the class and head into the Danger Zone. Meanwhile, one hot shot pilot (Tom Cruise) romances one of his teachers (Kelly McGillis) to the tune of Take My Breath Away. Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards and Meg Ryan also star in the film directed by Tony Scott. This should serve as a fitting tribute to the late filmmaker and one of the most intense airborne thrillers in existence. Top Gun in IMAX 3D arrives on February 8th.

If they showed this trailer in 3D it would be enough for me since they pretty much hit all the best parts:P Love it to death and the cheesiness only increases every single year but still doesn't stop me from watching it as much as often as I do. Yeah, I'll still pony up money to see this

They should re-release more classic movies like this. But not in 3D. It's unnecessary.
