Watch: 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones' Spin-Off First Trailer

October 17, 2013

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

Sadly, this season won't see the found footage horror franchise Paranormal Activity return as the next sequel in the series won't arrive until October 2014. But in January, Paramount Pictures will try spinning off the franchise with a focus on the Hispanic crowd. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Taking place in a Latin neighborhood in California, this new film focuses a young man who finds himself slowly becoming possessed by a force that should be familiar to fans of the found footage series. In the trailer, a reference to Katie and Christy, the sisters from the first two films in the series, continues to show that this dark force has a large following. Again, we're not sure why someone is shooting this footage, but whatever.

First trailer for Christopher Landon's Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones from YouTube:

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is written and directed by Christopher Landon (writer of Disturbia and all the Paranormal Activity sequels), and continues the legacy of the supernatural forces from Paranormal Activity in a spin-off story set in a small Hispanic neighborhood in California. Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, Eddie J. Fernandez, Jorge Diaz, David Fernandez Jr., Kimberly Ables Jindra, Tonja Kahlens and Frank Salinas all star in the film which Paramount Pictures releases January 3rd, 2014. Promising?

The footage itself looks pretty cool. It's a nice departure from the standard PA formula, but damn the acting looks forced.

yeah the lead looks pretty bad.

Kento on Oct 18, 2013

Yeah man, the lead (surprisingly) looks like the worst of the bunch.

Aj Meadows on Oct 18, 2013

Looks lame-o

TheOct8pus on Oct 17, 2013

Well... Crappy movie escalated quickly.

Lucius Ferguson on Oct 17, 2013

Ah christ can't they just give this type of thing a break?

Luke Hanna on Oct 17, 2013

Apparently not.

I dislike the franchise, to me the point is this franchise is not good, I went to watch the first movie when it came out, I almost fell asleep, now The Conjuring that's a good scary movie...

I wonder if people are really going to pay to see two Paranormal Activity movies in one year.

Nielsen700 on Oct 17, 2013

Insidious 2 and The Conjuring were pretty similar. As for there being 2 PA movies this year, I don't think the studios have enough faith in this one. It's like a spanish Boyz in the Hood with ghosts. But at least it's different.

Christopher Hall on Oct 17, 2013

People seem to want to pay for any old rubbish Nielson, it's like they can't help themselves.

Carpola on Oct 18, 2013

Good point.

Nielsen700 on Oct 18, 2013

Fucking great! Another damn SAW anthology!!!

Such heroic nonsense on Oct 17, 2013

Ripping off some GTA 5 with the cast and V/H/S with the found tape and quick spook shifty sequences.

Jim Dawkins on Oct 18, 2013

This could be the dumbest comment I've ever read.

Kento on Oct 18, 2013

No its just the truth.

Jim Dawkins on Oct 18, 2013

Looks like it may be better than Paranormal 3.

Robbie on Oct 18, 2013

I think PA 3 is the best and this looks not quite as good.
