Following his turn as James Bond in Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day, actor Pierce Brosnan hasn't really found any strong roles. Though The Ghost Writer is a high point from the past decade, other than that, Brosnan has been struggling for great roles and turning in less than stellar performances. Maybe that will change as he stars in Danish director Susanne Bier's (In a Better World) new drama Love is All You Need, where he plays a bitter widower who may find love with his son's future bride's mother (Trine Dyrholm). Looks like it could be pretty charming. Watch it below!
Here's the trailer for Susanne Bier's Love is All You Need originally from Yahoo:
Philip (Pierce Brosnan), an Englishman living in Denmark, is a lonely, middle-aged widower and estranged single father. Ida (Trine Dyrholm) is a Danish hairdresser, recuperating from chemotherapy, who has just learned that her husband is leaving her for a woman half his age from the accounting department. The fates of these two wounded souls are about to intertwine as they embark for Italy to attend the wedding of his son, Patrick (Sebastian Jessen), to her daughter, Astrid (Molly Blixt Egelind). Susanne Bier directs Love is All You Need and wrote the story with scribe Anders Thomas Jensen and it hits limited theaters May 3rd.

Seems like every other Danish film takes place in Italy, I wonder why they love our country so much 🙂 Anyway miss Bier has yet to make a film that isn't heavy handed, Oscar baity and devoid of any subtlety, I doubt anything with Pierce Brosnan could be it, but we'll see..

Can't agree that he hasn't had strong roles since his turn as Bond. If you haven't seen it, watch 2005's "The Matador." Probably his best performance to date. He was also great in 2001's "The Tailor of Panama."

Good point. He's amazing in The Matador. I also liked him in The Thomas Crown Affair though I concede this hardly pushed him.
