If you've been reading sites like ours for a few years, chances are you've come across posts like this one that shined a light on an amazing fan-made project: a shot for shot remake of Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's been called "the greatest fan film ever made," but now we have one that might challenge it's spot on the throne. Gizmodo points us to The Live Action Toy Story Project, a fan effort to recreate the entirety of Pixar's flagship film Toy Story in live action, using real toys. It took over two years to complete, but Jonason Pauley and Jesse Perrotta have finally done it, and the result is pretty damn spectacular.
Here is the feature length Live Action Toy Story Project found via Gizmodo:
The best part about this project is how it incorporates the best of both worlds between "traditional fan film" and Pixar's classic by using the talents of the voice actors and the music from the real film and blending it with a really charming do-it-yourself vibe. And don't worry, the folks at Pixar Animation are apparently cool with this project being made, because Pauley and Perrotta recently visited the company's campus and were actually able to hand out DVDs of their movie. This is such a cool story, and though the film was finished back in August, it's only now made its way onto YouTube for us all to watch and enjoy. Pretty cool, right?
