A Christmas Story

"I triple dog dare you…!" Ohhh it's on now. This is hilarious, and I can't help but post it. One of my (and everyone's) all-time favorite holiday classics is A Christmas Story, and one of the best scenes in the film is the one where a kid gets his tongue stuck to the flagpole and the fire department has to come. We've been following Improv Everywhere's fun new video series "Movies in Real Life" taking scenes and moments and repeating them in the real world, and this scene is the latest to be translated. And boy do they do this one right - with prosthetic thumbs, hidden cameras and kids in character. It's awesome. One of the best yet!

Here's the tenth episode of "Movies in Real Life" inspired by the tongue scene in A Christmas Story:

Here's the original tongue-stuck-to-flag-pole scene from Bob Clark's 1983 A Christmas Story movie:

From Improv Everywhere: "For our latest mission, we recreated the famous 'triple dog dare' scene from A Christmas Story on an NYC subway car. Instead of licking a flagpole, our character licked a subway pole. Using a prosthetic tongue with a magnet inside, we were able to get his tongue to appear stuck to the pole, much to the surprise of New Yorkers on the train." This is the latest episode in Improv Everywhere's new series Movies in Real Life. "Every Tuesday, we’re releasing a new video that brings an iconic movie moment to life in the real world." We've featured a couple of these already, including Rocky, The Matrix and Jurassic Park. Follow for their latest videos here. These are the perfect comedic relief during the holidays.
