Big Ass Spider

Fun fact: Our own Alex Billington is so terrified of spiders that he was not willing to watch or even write about this trailer. Premiering soon at SXSW 2013 in the Midnighters section is Big Ass Spider, a Ray Harryhausen-esque monster movie where a massive spider attacks LA. It's up to one clever exterminator and his security guard sidekick to kill the creature before the city is destroyed. The film is currently looking for a buyer at the European Film Market, but a film with a B-movie flare like this will hopefully get picked up. There's not any big talent to be found except for Ray Wise and Greg Grunberg, but this looks fun.

Here's the first trailer for Mike Mendez's Big Ass Spider, originally via EW:

Big Ass Spider is directed by Mike Mendez and written by Gregory Gieras. When a giant alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampages across the city of Los Angeles, it is up to one clever exterminator and his security guard sidekick to kill the creature before the city is destroyed. Greg Grunberg, Lombardo Boyar, Clare Kramer, Ray Wise, Lin Shaye, Patrick Bauchau all star in the film which also features a cameo by Troma's Lloyd Kaufman. The film premieres at the SXSW Film Festival next month, so hopefully we'll have some coverage. Otherwise, stay tuned to see if Big Ass Spider gets picked up for distribution. Look fun?

SyFy movies are horrible. They're all awful. If you're spending your time watching those but haven't watched the 1000 movies you must see before you die, then you're just wasting your time.

Your telling me youve never watched a syfy movie for the unintended comedy? I know I cant be alone on this one jesus pull the stick out of your ass.

I've watched Ed Wood films for that reason. At MOST I've watched trailers for SyFy films because I simply don't see them as funny enough to spend 2 hours on.

that ending portion where the title came out was just awesome, I mean it just sounds so classic brings about 'A New Hope' for these movies now that they will be freshened up
