The East Trailer

"Spy on us, we'll spy to you." Fox Searchlight has debuted the first teaser trailer for Zal Batmanglij's The East, his second feature following Sound of My Voice, a corporate eco-terrorist mystery-thriller starring Brit Marling. This just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was absolutely fantastic, so I'm glad they're starting to promote it right away. Ellen Page also stars, and you can hear her voice in this trailer, plus Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Toby Kebbell, Julia Ormond and Aldis Hodge. This just seems to be an early teaser with a fair amount of footage, only giving us a quick peak at what to expect. Don't miss this one!

Watch the first official trailer for Zal Batmanglij's The East, originally from Apple:

In the film, Sarah Moss (Brit Marling) is a brilliant operative for an elite private intelligence firm whose top objective is to ruthlessly protect the interests of their A-list corporate clientele. She is assigned to go undercover to infiltrate an anarchist collective known for executing covert attacks upon major corporations. Living amongst them in an effort to get closer to their members, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly torn between two worlds. The East is the second feature from up-and-coming filmmaker Zal Batmanglij (of Sound of My Voice previously), who co-wrote the script with Brit Marling. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Fox Searchlight later this year, but they haven't set an official date yet.

The director has 'batman' in his name. I don't have to watch this trailer. He already has my vote.

I feel pretentious and cliche mentioning it but I love Brit Marling (and batmanglij's) work. Another Earth, The Sound of My Voice...so great. I look forward to this.
