Watch: The Gravity of Film, A Supercut of Movie Characters Falling

August 12, 2013

Die Hard

Countless movies feature both heroes and villains hanging on for dear life, a fatal plunge below their feet, and now a bunch of them are together in one slick little video called Gravity: A Falling Montage. And the title basically describes the video as accurately as it gets. Utilizing scenes from movies like Batman Returns, The Matrix Reloaded, Magnolia, Thor, Die Hard, Vanilla Sky and more, the film features small clips from films featuring either a prominent scene with a character jumping off some sort of ledge, or simply falling through the air, complete with music from the soundtrack of 28 Days Later. Watch!

Here's Gravity: A Falling Montage from 35MM A Group for Cinephiles on Vimeo:

The editing is a little choppy at first, but then it finally comes together with the montage of characters tumbling through the air. Obviously, it's hard to include all the films which features sequences like this, but the video does a good job of snagging some of the more iconic leaps and falls from movies. I feel like there should be more clips from classics, but that's the way the cookie crumbles this time. Though it's not a glaring exclusion, there's a part of me that wishes Arnold Schwarzenegger's fall out of a crumbling elevator on the side of a building in Last Action Hero would have been included, but most don't like that movie.

He should have ended that with Dredd.

28 Weeks Later...not days

I was hoping to see Bond falling in Skyfall

Fidel Reyes on Aug 13, 2013

There was from Qunatum of Solace I think.

Yeah when he and Camille jump out of a plane, but I was thinking the Skyfall one could have had a little more impact, nevertheless this is just awesome! More so because of the score from 28 Weeks Later

Fidel Reyes on Aug 13, 2013

The Skyfall one was not good because Bond wouldn't survive a fall from that height.

Gandalf - the longest fall? 🙂

Don't like the music, but the clips were OK. Makes me want to watch many of those films again.

Weird that Inception is there but Batman Begins isn't, seeing as how "why do we fall?" is a motif there, just like the kick.
