The Sweeney

After hitting the UK last fall, the film adaptation of the British TV series The Sweeney is finally coming to the United States. Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (aka rapper Plan B) lead the film as Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Detective Sergeant George Carter respectively, two members of the "Flying Squad," a branch of the Metropolitan Police specializing in armed robbery and violent crime in London. The first US trailer for the release has arrived and has Winstone and Drew donning leather jackets and wielding guns in the average looking crime thriller that also features Hayley Atwell and Damian Lewis. Watch it below!

Here's the first US trailer for Nick Love's The Sweeney via YouTube:

Nick Love (The Football Factory) directed The Sweeney and co-wrote the screenplay with John Hodge (Trainspotting, The Beach) based on 1970's British TV series of the same name. Ray Wintsone and Ben Drew (known as rapper Plan B) play Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Detective Sergeant George Carter, respectively, two members of the "Flying Squad," a branch of the police specializing in armed robbery and violent crime in London. Hayley Atwell (seen in Captain America: The First Avenger) and Damian Lewis ("Homeland") also star in the film from the UK last year. It arrives on iTunes and in US theaters March 1st.

Damian Lewis needs more big time roles, his turn in Homeland has been just ridiculously good.

Yeah was gonna say that but it wasnt as focused on him as Homeland is, in BoB there were 10 other actors doing the same caliber job as him in Homeland hes what keeps the show going.

yea, i see what you mean - and he does keep homeland going. there were many moments in BoB that i thought he really stood out, though.

It was alright, not the best, a bit silly for the most of it.

So I should just stick to the Top Gear version? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xZriFZ_xbI

Will be going for the Jeremy Clarkson and Hamster directed chase scene. Even though all signs pointed to an abortion of a scene, the Top Gear editing crew managed to make it look pretty damn good.....despite the couple of bits that were outright hilariously ridiculous. And Haley Atwell. I love Haley Atwell.
