Watch: Tom Hanks Puts on Disney Charm in 'Saving Mr. Banks' Trailer
"Mary Poppins is not for sale." After the first look photo surfaced yesterday, Disney has released the first trailer for the charming Saving Mr. Banks, the true story of how Walt Disney brought Mary Poppins to the big screen. Emma Thompson plays author P.L. Travers who is not very impressed with Los Angeles or Disney himself, and even less excited about handing over the rights to her beloved creation. This looks like a real crowd pleaser with Tom Hanks as Disney and a supporting cast including Bradley Whitford, Paul Giamatti and Jason Schwartzman alongside B.J. Novak as the composing Sherman Brothers. Watch!
Here's the first trailer for John Lee Hancock's Saving Mr. Banks, originally from Moviefone:
Inspired by true events, Saving Mr. Banks is the extraordinary, untold story of how Disney’s musical classic Mary Poppins made it to the big screen and the testy relationship that the legendary Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) had with author P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) that almost derailed the production from ever happening. John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) directs the film written by "Terra Nova" writer Kelly Marcel, making her feature writing debut. Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti and Jason Schwartzman also star in the film which gets a limited release on December 13th and hits theaters everywhere December 20th. Well?

It's nice to see Hanks still working though I wish he would get back to his comedy roots.

I wasn't expecting the huge emphasis on Mary Poppins but yeah... I'll watch anything with Tom Hanks.

Read the premise and thought...meh. Saw the actors and gave it a look see. Watched the trailer and I am 100% in on this. Just flew up to near the top of my must sees this year. Great, great actors here.

Yet people criticized on here "The Butler" trailer for being a piece of Oscar bait but are barely saying anything about this one. I seriously think you people need to stop with the harsh judgemental views. This looks like as much as the same Oscar bait yet they both display the courageous efforts and determinations of one man that would make history as we know it. It's not just Oscar bait or a Hollywood film but I see them as true inspiration for a generation to look upon and remember. I am glad they make films like these.

That actress who plays the secretary (I don't know her name....yet) is in a whole lot of tv commercials. I love her voice. Oh yeah, the rest of this looks fantastic, although Emma in her 1960's makeup is startling...looks so much older. Giamatti is a national treasure, as well as that Hanks guy.

The actress who plays Walt Disney's secretary is Melanie Deanne Moore Paxson. She is primarily known for her television commercials. I especially like her Yoplait bear sheriff commercial. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanie_Paxson http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0601609/

I grew up watching "Uncle" Walt Disney on his Wonderful World of Color. I distinctly remember when he died in 1966. Although Tom Hanks does not really look like Uncle Walt, he does exude the charm that Disney showed on air.
