Since the offerings on various VOD outlets like iTunes are becoming much more engaging, we thought this truly epic miniseries from BBC deserved the attention of cinephiles. The network across the pond has put together a four-part series called The Hollow Crown, an adaptation of four of Shakespeare's classic plays Richard II, Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2 and Henry V. What's even better is these adaptations feature Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, Thor), Jeremy Irons (Die Hard with a Vengeance), Patrick Stewart (X-Men) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Cloud Atlas). This looks like a gorgeous dramatic series.
Here's the trailer for BBC's The Hollow Crown, direct from Focus Features (via SlashFilm):
The Hollow Crown is a miniseries from BBC Two produced by Skyfall director Sam Mendes which features new adaptations of Shakespeare's tetralogy of history plays comprising the Henriad which includes King Richard II; King Henry IV, Part 1; King Henry IV, Part 2; King Henry V. Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Jeremy Irons and Ben Whishaw star in the series directed by Richard Eyre, Rupert Goold and Thea Sharrock which Focus World releases on iTunes, VOD & DVD August 27th.

I agree. I've also seen this series--up to the UK's usual standard for period dramas, with a terrific cast.
